Way to Go, Godai! The First Date with Kyoko is the fourteenth episode of the Maison Ikkoku anime.
Synopsis[]
It's been one year since Kyōko arrived at Maison Ikkoku. To celebrate it, Godai finds courage to invite Kyōko to a date. But there is a misunderstanding, and each one thinks the date is at a different restaurant. When they fail to meet at the date, how will they manage to find each other? Is this first date (and the celebration) doomed to fail, or will they finally meet to share a romantic moment?

- When Godai looks at Ikuko, he daydreams of a ¥1,000 bill (Series D) depicting Natsume Sōseki (Meiji period novelist).
- When Godai looks at Ikuko's mom, he daydreams of a ¥10,000 bill (Series D) depicting Fukuzawa Yukichi (Meiji period philosopher).
- The name of the café Godai invites Kyōko to, "Ma Maison", is french for "My House".
- In the scenes where Godai is waiting for Kyōko at "Ma Maison" café, there are two insert songs: the first one is called "One Tack Mind", and the second one is called "Try your Love Again". Both songs are by singer CINDY from her 1986 album Love Life.
