Maison Ikkoku Ending Get Down

Screenshot of the ending

"Get Down" is the third ending theme song for the anime and was only used in Episode 24. Just like Alone Again (Naturally) it was performed by Gilbert O'Sullivan, and it was originally released in 1973.

Due to copyright issues, the English dub version of the anime had Cinema as the ending theme for episode 24.

Lyrics[]

Told you once before
And I won't tell you no more
Get down, get down, get down
You're a bad dog baby
But I still want you round

You give me the creeps
When you jump on your feet
So get down, get down, get down
Keep your hands to yourself
I'm strictly out of bounds

Once upon a time I drank a little wine
Was as happy as could be, happy as could be
Now I'm just like a cat on a hot tin roof
Baby what do you think you're doin' to me

Told you once before
And I won't tell you no more
So get down, get down, get down
You're a bad dog baby
But I still want you round-around
I still want you around
Mm- Mm- Mm-
Oo- Oo- Oo-

Trivia[]

  • Get Down was one of two Gilbert O' Sullivan songs used only in Episode 24 (the other one being Alone Again (Naturally), which was used as the opening theme).
    • It was because in 1986, O'Sullivan was signed to Kitty Records, a record label associated with the production company Kitty Films, which hoped to use the anime's popularity as a way to promote the singer's career in Japan.
    • But the songs were unpopular with viewers of the series, so they were dropped after Episode 24.
    • Both songs were never used in the English dubbed version of Episode 24 due to licensing issues.
    • The Japanese Maison Ikkoku DVD and Blu-ray releases would also later remove both songs for the same reason.
  • But this song was also used as the opening theme for the 1986 live action adaptation called "Maison Ikkoku: Apartment Fantasy".
